Smooth conveyor belts can be used in every industrial process, whether for general duty or for conveying sharp and extremely abrasive materials. Their construction and cover quality give them high reliability and a long service life.

Minimum recommended pulley diameter

A — belt section under maximum tension with a wrap angle ≥ 30° (drive pulley).
B — belt section under moderate tension with a wrap angle ≥ 30° (tail pulley).
C — pulley with a wrap angle ≤ 30° (snub / bend pulley).

Flame-retardant (self-extinguishing) conveyor belts

When large volumes of material are conveyed, the material itself or the belt can ignite. A special flame-retardant rubber compound was therefore developed to raise safety to the highest level.

  • Type K: flame-retardant with rubber covers to DIN EN ISO 340:2007 and antistatic to DIN EN ISO 284:2004
  • Type K-MOR: moderately oil- and grease-resistant, flame-retardant with rubber covers
  • Type S: flame-retardant with and without rubber covers
  • Type S-MOR: moderately oil- and grease-resistant, flame-retardant with and without rubber covers

Suitable for: heating plants, power stations and waste incineration plants, coal loading and handling, steel plants and foundries, enclosed conveyors, conveying flammable goods, potentially explosive atmospheres, proximity to naked flame and tunnel installations.

Oil- and grease-resistant conveyor belts

As a rule oils and greases are highly destructive to rubber, and materials containing them are conveyed every day. Since not all oils and greases are equally aggressive, several belt types are available.

MORModerately oil-resistant. Suitable for products with a low content of animal and vegetable fats and oils (grain, silage and tailings, compost, animal feed).
MGModerately oil-resistant (same products as type MOR), belt with cut edges — used on slider bed conveyors. Suitable where the aggressive material is also present on the underside and at the edges of the belt.
MOR PLUSBelt with moulded edges for material containing animal fats or vegetable oils. Used in the production of grain, soya, canned goods, cellulose, sawdust and fertiliser.
MG PLUSOil-resistant and moderately resistant to foaming substances. For belts with cut edges and slider bed conveyors, where the aggressive material is also present on the underside and at the edges of the belt.
GMGHighly oil-resistant, for products containing mineral oils and wood particles. Resistant to the lilamines used in the fertiliser industry.
KMORModerately oil- and grease-resistant, flame-retardant with rubber covers (DIN EN ISO 340:2007), antistatic (DIN EN ISO 284:2004).
SMORModerately oil- and grease-resistant, flame-retardant with and without rubber covers (DIN EN ISO 340:2007), antistatic (DIN EN ISO 284:2004).

All conveyor belts are antistatic to DIN EN ISO 284:2004. Oil resistance depends on the belt construction. Available as smooth, supergrip, finegrip, noppen or Chevron versions.

Suitable for: fertiliser plants, concrete plants, recycling, waste sorting and composting facilities, the metalworking industry, the timber industry and sawmills, conveying waste sludge, conveying maize and oilseed rape, and the paper industry.

Heat-resistant conveyor belts

Hot material can damage a belt very easily. To prevent this, three belt types are used to match different temperature conditions:

  • Type T1 — material temperature up to 125 °C
  • Type T2 — material temperature up to 150 °C
  • Type T3 — material temperature up to 210 °C

* Depending on ambient temperature, particle size and contact time. Short-term peaks in material temperature of up to 400 °C are possible.

Suitable for: cement plants, heating plants, power stations, waste incineration plants, the chemical industry and foundries.

Ripcheck conveyor belts — reinforced with steel cords

Conveying larger volumes of solid material can cause considerable damage to the belt. Large irregular lumps with sharp edges and a build-up of material can cause longitudinal rips or local punctures. Ripcheck belts have an additional impact-resistant layer.

  • Type RC — flexible reinforcement with steel cords
  • Type RH — very dense flexible reinforcement with steel cords for heavy-duty conditions
  • Type BR — flexible reinforcement with textile cords (for magnetic separators or metal detectors, in the timber industry)

Slider bed conveyor belts

For technical reasons a rotating return idler cannot be fitted to certain conveyor types, so the belt requires a so-called slider bed. This does not allow the underside of the belt to be rubber covered, as that would increase friction — special slider bed conveyor belts are therefore used, on which friction is reduced to a minimum.

Suitable for: sawmills and the timber industry, recycling, waste and mineral processing plants, the packaging industry, airports and the food industry.

Splicing smooth conveyor belts

Belts can be spliced by cold bonding, hot vulcanising and mechanical fasteners, and can be supplied endless to the customer's requirement. Extra belt length is needed for the splice, depending on the method used.
